| Hi, I am a mother of a bipolar adult daughter and three grandchildren with bipolar disorder. I never understood what they go through or how to be helpful to them till I read your book. I am so happy to be able to connect better with them and to know concrete things I can suggest to help them. I am so glad I found your book.

" Phyllis's story is so inspiring. It amazes me
that she has accomplished so much in spite of her bipolar disorder.
It really gives me hope that my family members with this disorder
can learn to manage their lives, to live happy productive lives. Her
step-by-step practical advice helps me understand what I can and
cannot do to help them. This book succeeds in being both
inspirational and practical: her worksheets and guidelines are
helping me start to manage my own life better, especially the
Chapter for Families: Strategy for Life. It clearly written and very
easy to use. I plan to keep it close at hand because when life
becomes a bit overwhelming, it feels like a calm friend on my
bookshelf that can help me keep things in perspective."

A case manager gave me your book which I now have with me all of
the time. My son was recently diagnosed after having
struggled for many years. The book has helped our whole
family. Although he is not quite ready to absorb the book
like I have it has helped me to help him.

I learned a great deal when you
presented in my Human Behavior class at
Fordham University.
Although I was there as a student I was also there as the
daughter of ………….and sister of…………two people with Bipolar
Disorder. You helped me put some things in
perspective. Thanks

Special thanks to Phyllis Elliott for presenting to fledgling
social workers at the Fordham University Graduate School of
Social Work. Phyllis’ presentation in my Human Behavior
class added “real life” to the book learning. The students
were struck by hearing real life of stories to the readings they
have done. They were impressed with Phyllis’ ability to
talk both personally and professionally and blend the two with
grace. Her humor and down to earth style put many of the
students, new to mental health issues, at easy and inspired to
learn more.
Thanks for all you do………
